We are in a different day and age where artists apparently need to be very careful about what the create.

Nigerian Singer-songwriter,Rema was under fire for his lyrics in his hit song ‘Holiday’ where he talked about stealing his friend’s laptop.

The star’s real name Divine Ikubor addressed it on Cool FM Lagos. He said;
“The lyric was good enough to explain the whole scenario. It’s not that deep. I really don’t want to glorify stealing, but it was just very unfortunate [that happened at that time].”

He also explained his album ‘Rave & Roses” cover art which shows an upside-down burning house.

“A lot of people had a lot of misconceptions [about the album cover], they said it’s a church. Anything they just see cross, they say it’s a church. It’s not a church. The cover art inspiration was an embodiment of me consist of a cross and a fire. The whole house actually kind of signifies me.”

In this woke age, y’all need to be very sensitive with your art or be ready to explain all the time.

With the Fame Rema is getting, it’s expected to get backlash here and there.
