What I’m Still Learning About Blogging

What I'm Still Learning About Blogging

You see, there is nothing that is easy in this life.
Everyone in their own little way, do their best (it might be so much or so
little), an effort is an effort. As human beings we try everything possible
just to get to where we need to be….which is fine but then it’s better to try
out what you are interested in or have a flair for. Just like this blogging for
instance, some people do it as a hobby, some for money, some because others are
doing it (this people lack direction, sorry to say). It started as a hobby for
me and then people that never supported me in the first place began to state
how they think my blog should be and what I’m to post (crazy right? Like they
can’t imagine you doing something their guts won’t be able to take and when you
do and succeed or at the verge of succeeding… they hand you a brochure like
they supported you in the first place)..
At the end of the day, we do need these people since
everyone can’t be ‘ass lickers’. In other words, support what you do…. You just
have to do what you want to do. I’m not saying you should not seek advice from
people that have been there or positive people; you should but know when to
differentiate a negative person from positive one.

Why do you think people go
for the best? They could be at the good/better stage and hope to be better…
that’s why some people mingle with other’s that are higher than they are, so
they could learn new things, you know… Be better! When you ask someone that
knows nothing about blogging or in any case your passion, what answer would you
expect? That’s why we have mentors; people that were there before you, people
you look up to and if you are lucky (I say this because in this part of the
world we have too much bad belle as in bad people that don’t want you to be
better than them, they want to be there and be there forever, they will never
tell you their mistakes/what makes them thick so you won’t achieve what it took
them ten years or more to achieve in a year) can chip in some advice if not you
keep practicing (Cos, practice makes perfect), you’ll get there.
This can be applied in any aspect of your life but since
what I’m doing at the moment is blogging, I intend to share what I’ve learnt   I’m
still learning about blogging. Having this in mind that nothing comes easy,
with the list below; you need patience, time, hard work and the Grace of God to
succeed. Whether you just started blogging or you’ve been blogging for years
and nothing to show for it, it’s not too late.
Write what you know
This is also important and what some people refer to as
niche (finding your niche). Before I started using a blogging platform, I
enjoyed writing anything that came to mind ;during my childhood days, I talked
a lot…sometimes as my dad (bless his soul) would say “she says more than she
knows”,lol.  And as I grew (still
growing), I began to talk less and put down my frustration/excitement on paper.
Then I’ll get this long note book (gosh, I wish I knew where I kept them) and
write; it comes as a song lyric, sometimes a poem and other times journals.  I’m sure if I could find those notebooks; I
would laugh my gut out and cry my eyes out at the same time cos there are
memories in them that were really special and honest that would have made me
understand where I am and where I need to be. But I thank God for retentive
memory and of course the Internet for giving us the opportunity to air our
views.
So what I’m I saying (forgive me, I don’t know when to stop
talking or In this case typing),I love writing and have a flair for everything
entertainment news, fashion and article, that’s why my blog is what it is (although little of articles
because of time, which I hope would change soon). I can talk about celebrities
without getting bored or tired (even in my sleep, it scary!). Therefore, you should be able to write/do something you can
defend anytime, day or place; that someone listening can actually believe you,
trust your opinion and views.
Be clear and concise
Yeah, see who is talking right? This is my pattern (go big
or go home) and so far I’ve gotten no complain but feel free to let me know if
you think is too long. Sometimes it’s not just the length of the article, it
the quality of the article
; if it is witty, interesting or educational. It
doesn’t have to be long at all times, it depends on how engaging it is to your
readers. Some people are not so patient; some are at the office and all they
can be able to read are headlines or points (which is where I’m heading to
after this). Therefore, with those types of readers you have to be as clear and
explanatory as possible. And since I’m trying to lead by example, I have to
stop at this point, hehehe.
List your points (subtitles)
Not only does it help in having an idea of what to write, it
also helps impatient readers have a summary of your entire post.  For example, you want to discuss cars and
your title is just CARS…you should know we have different brand of cars, where
these cars are trending, you know like locations, how they are maintained,
their cost and so on… If you can’t break this down to what you’ll be discussing
on Cars; you’ll get confuse along the way.
Your post would be very cumbersome, your readers won’t have were to go
for specific information, you as the writer would be lost that in some cases
you have to start all over again. That’s why with blogger, we have Blog title,
Meta description and so on… to help you design your blog, giving it a niche so
people who are searching for lets say ‘Range Rover
maintenance’ can be directed to a section of your blog to get the information.
Research
Google is your friend! Search for any information you want
before you start blogging or intend to apply for AdSense. You don’t want to
start a blog and confused along the way doing research instead of posting, you
should be prepared. Though we learn in the process, don’t go too far just to
start all over again. Ask google anything;how to start blogging, what you
require,if you want to make money;how to go about it. Understanding google
analytics,webmaster tools,AdWords,AdSense,SEO,Alexa ranking,social media
marketing,templates,designs,guest posting and more… It’s a lot,that’s why I barley post sometimes
cos I’m trying to figure out all this at once. I don’t mean to discourage you,
I just want you to know that bloggers put in a lot of work to make their blog
look the way it does. Some do it on their own, some hire IT personnel (if you
want to,it’s cool but it is also advised you know a few things so you can
understand the technical aspect of blogging. Research can be fun too!) to do
so. As far as you have the interest in writing or you have something to share
and educate the world… With a laptop and steady Internet connection, you are
good to go an every other thing would fall in place.
