Following a vehicle fire in Los Angeles over the weekend, comedian and former “Tonight Show” host Jay Leno, 72, said that he was suffering from severe burn wounds.

“I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet,” Leno said in a statement to NBC News on Monday. He was hospitalized as of Monday afternoon.

The “Jay Leno’s Garage” presenter was working in his Los Angeles garage on Saturday when an unintentional flash fire broke out in one of his vehicles. He is renowned for having a sizable collection of expensive and historic cars.

According to a source close to Leno, the flames burnt the left side of his face but did not reach his eyes or ear. Leno was then transported to the Grossman Burn Center in West Hills. He postponed all of his obligations for the week, including a Sunday night concert in Las Vegas.

Before handing over “The Tonight Show” to Jimmy Fallon in 2014, the comedian hosted the program for more than three decades. The first season of “Jay Leno’s Garage” on CNBC aired in 2015.

Wish you a speedy recovery.
