50 Cent reveals how he missed $9million to perform at the 2022 World Cup

50 Cent and Eminem

Due to his friend Eminem’s disinterest in a collaborative performance at the 2022 World Cup, 50 Cent missed out on a sizeable payment.

The 47-year-old “I Get Money” rapper said that he and Slim Shady were promised a total of $9 million to perform at the athletic event sponsored by Qatar, but the 50-year-old “Without Me” musician turned down the offer.

Speaking of his appearance at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show with Eminem, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and Anderson, 50 Cent, actual name Curtis Jackson III, said, “Because of the Super Bowl, I got an enquiry regarding World Cup and they had a budget of $9 million.”

He then discussed the concept with Eminem’s crew. They were saying, “He’s not going to do it,” 50 Cent recounted. “If you were to give a special performance, perhaps you would stage the largest live athletic event on earth.”

It’s unclear why the rapper from “Love the Way You Lie” opted out of the show. However, due to its systemic discrimination against women and the LGBTQ+ community as well as the alleged deaths of 37 migrant workers who were employed to build the stadiums where the games were played, according to The Guardian, Qatar was the subject of considerable controversy during the World Cup.

Fans and British comedian Joe Lycett have attacked David Beckham for agreeing to serve as an ambassador for the Qatar World Cup in November.

The 2022 World Cup will “be an inclusive, safe competition,” according to Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, which also stated that “everyone is welcome, regardless of colour, origin, religion, gender, orientation, or nationality.”

Performers at the 2022 Qatar World Cup included Jung Kook of BTS, Black Eyed Peas and J Balvin.
