Writer Chinamanda Adichie Would Like To Be Addressed As Ms. Not Mrs

Um,first of all,i had no idea she was married,that’s her husband’s (Dr. Ivara Esega) photo above by the way. In a recent interview with The sun newspaper,the ‘half of the yellow sun’ Author said;

“Before we start (the interview), please, I just want to say that my name is Chimamanda Adichie. That’s how I want it; that’s how I’m addressed, and it is not Mrs but Miss. Ms: that’s how I want it. I am saying this, because I just got a mail from my manager this morning. It seems that there are people who attended the church service, and they wrote about it, addressing me as Mrs. Chimamanda (Esega). I didn’t like that at all. So my name is Chimamanda Adichie, full stop!”

You know sometimes i have that problem,where i see a mature lady that is not married and don’t know how to address her so she wouldn’t be offended but in this case she is married so i don’t really get the big deal. It’s just a title,don’t over think it,i’m not crazy about it as well. As long as they get your name right,Ms Adichie.
