Sad News but understandable:Glee ending after season 6.
October 17, 2013
‘Glee’ will officially end after season six, co-creator Ryan Murphy confirmed on October 16. He revealed that after Cory’s death, the show will not be able to continue in the direction he wanted — and that the last line of the show was supposed to from Rachel to Finn.
“The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel (Lea Michele) and Cory/Finn’s story,” Ryan said at the Paley Center event, which honored FX Networks. “I always knew that, I always knew how it would end. I knew what the last shot was – he was in it. I knew what the last line was – she said it to him. So when a tragedy like that happens you sort of have to pause and figure out what you want to do, so we’re figuring that out now.”
As for the final season, Ryan does know what he wants to do — and it will honor Finn.
“I have a good idea,” he added. “I’m going to tell the studio and the network [in a week] how after Cory’s unfortunate passing we can end the show that I think is very satisfactory. And kind of in his honor, which I love.”
How Rachel Will Cope With Finn’s Death Through The Series
As for Rachel, we’re not sure what direction her storyline will go now that she has lost her true love.In the tribute episode, Rachel revealed that shehad a fairytale ending in mind for her and Finn — one that echoed their real-life romance.
However, while the cast said their official goodbye in the episode, we do know Rachel will continue to mourn over his loss throughout the rest of the series.
“She struggles with it [the loss] all season,” Ryan told TV Week Australia. “It’s not just done, buried and goodbye.”
