Ruth E. Carter makes history as the first Black woman to win two Oscars

Ruth.E.CarterRuth E. Carter made history at the 95th Academy Awards as the first black woman to win two Oscars.

She took home best costume design for the Marvel sequel “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” The first time was in 2018 for “Black Panther,” which made her the first African American to win in the category.

The 63-year-old speech addressed the late actor,Chadwick Boseman,telling hin to take care of her mother who passed at the age of 101. She said;

“This is for my mother. She was 101,””This film prepared me for this moment. Chadwick, please take care of mom.”

According to reports,her award-winning costumes will go on exhibita at the North Carolina Museum of Art (NCMA) next month through August ,4 2023.

The NCMA said in a post about the event;
“Carter has defined generations through her work in film and TV. Her art adds dimensionality, flair, and culture to the characters she envisions, giving power to the incredible actors who wear her designs. Her vibrancy and attention to detail in costuming is integral to translating stories of race, politics, and culture to the big screen,”
