Tina Turner

Iconic singer ,Tina Turner sold the rights to her music to BMG and was reportedly paid $50 million for songs such as Private Dancer and What’s Love Got to Do with It.

The 81-year-old said in a statement;

“Like any artist, protecting my life’s work, my musical legacy, is something personal, “‘I am sure that my work at BMG and Warner Music is in professional and reliable hands.’ The singer continues to release any new songs with her record label Warner Music.

Turner is not the first to sell her music right to BMG. David Bowie, John Lennon, Mick Jagger and Kurt Cobain have also done same.

With the publishing rights, the new owner receives the income from streaming services such as Spotify, but also a compensation if the songs are used for commercials, films, Netflix series and on TikTok.
