Rolling Stone Charlie Watts dead at 80

Rolling Stone prolific drummer,Charlie Watts died in a London hospital on Tuesday surrounded by family. He was 80.

Watts “passed away peacefully in a London hospital earlier today surrounded by his family.”

“Charlie was a cherished husband, father and grandfather and also as a member of The Rolling Stones one of the greatest drummers of his generation,” Bernard Doherty said.

Watts was the only one in the group that stayed in his marriage with wife, Shirley Ann Shepherd who he wed in 1964.
He was the last to join the band in 1962 and rocked with them making hits like “Satisfaction”.

“Honky Tonk Women,” “Brown Sugar” and other songs.

He wasn’t crazy about the rock life,his background was jazz but got interested in rock after meeting Keith Richards and Brian Jones. He later had a Jazz band alongside his work with Rolling Stones.

Watts is survived by his wife Shirley, sister Linda, daughter Seraphina and granddaughter Charlotte.
