Donate 3k For Orphans Get Free Ride Anywhere In Lagos This Month

Afrocab and Giving Garage announced a partnership, which would offer Giving Garage donors up to N3, 000 worth of free Afrocab ride from now until the end of this month.After successfully hosting the Event on January 31st 2016 and launching the 3K4Orphans campaign. The Convener of the Campaign,Chaste Inegbedion, and a 2016 LEAP Africa Social Innovator Fellow also got other fellows to lend their voice to the campaign.

Remember that quote about not really living until you have done something for someone who cannot repay you? That was the opportunity Giving Garage presented guests at the event; “The Green Reception; let’s encourage celebrations at charity homes”. After successfully hosting “Green Giving Yuletide” inspired by YALI NETWORK on the 29th of December 2015 at the Lagos Motherless Babies Home, Lekki, the Giving Garage team, on the 31st of January 2016, moved her charity train to Hearts of Gold Children Hospice Surulere. 

Gracing the occasion were celebrities like Yaw, Grace Amah, Sam Uche, Ifeoma Okeke, Vivian Meche Senator; international model, Boma Akpore; Elenu, Funny Bone, Kent Oxygen, instagram comedienne, Wofa Ifada, JDon, and MC Prince, among others. More photos after the cut...

Guests were treated with a lunch of prawn rice, mixed with the African culinary favorite, Jollof rice, with chops of fried plantain by the side, and chicken wings to go. After which they took a tour of the home, celebrating with the children and donating to the sustenance of the home. Shoes, clothes, and cupcakes were also auctioned, and donated to the children and staff of the home. Artistes, Kent Oxygen, JDon, G-Girl, Olusho, and the amazing voice from Pacelli School of the blind wowed the guests with the sonority of their voices, the dexterity of their tunes, and the melodiousness of their rhythm. 

Speaking on the history of the home, Mrs Laja Adedoyin said, “Hearts of Gold Children Hospice, the first Children Hospice in Nigeria, opened its doors on the 2nd of October 2003 to abandoned children, especially those with extreme physical and mental disabilities”. She also encouraged the Giving Garage team, and the guests to visit other charity homes in the country to share the fun and love with the residents. On a lighter note, but very serious to her, she prayed for all singles present, and even went ahead to do a match making of them, saying God will settle each and every one of them.

 Actress Ifeoma Okeke said, “Giving is a necessity, and the hand that gives never lacks, I am a living witness”. Grace Amah appreciated the Giving Garage team, saying we all should join hands together to give these children a childhood of fun, love, and happiness.

Team lead, Chaste Inegbedion encouraged the guests to continue the celebrations and donations to charity. Speaking on the #3k4Orphans campaign, he said the idea is to raise One million, five hundred thousand naira from 500 donors so that the home can start a business venture that will sustain them.

The Giving Garage team presented the gifts from various donors to the home, thanking them for their kind reception. Mrs Laja also thanked all guests present, and the giving garage team for their efforts, saying that God’s blessings will not cease in their lives.
