Prince George christening.

Prince George christening.
According to people magazine:
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Prince Charles and his wife, Camilla, and Prince Harry head the guest list for Prince George’s christening – along with Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, siblings James Middleton and Pippa Middleton, as well as the seven godparents and their spouses.

That is, except for the single Hugh Grosvenor.

Led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the service is set to take place at 3 p.m. London time (10 a.m. ET) at the Chapel Royal in St. James’s Palace.

As widely expected, Prince George will be wearing a handmade replica of the royal christening robe, made by Angela Kelly, dressmaker to the Queen.

The original, of fine Honiton lace lined with white satin, was made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal, and subsequently worn for all royal christenings, including those for the Queen, her children and her grandchildren (with the exception of James, Viscount Severn).

George will be baptized in the Lily Font using water from the River Jordan. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1840 commissioned the silver font for the birth of their first child, Victoria, Princess Royal, and it has been used at every royal christening since 1841.

At the post-christening party, to be hosted by Prince Charles and Camilla at their London residence, Clarence House, the guests are expected to raise a glass to toast the little prince.

Also on the menu: something familiar. Kate and Prince William saved a few tiers of their spectacular 2011 wedding cake, baker Fiona Cairns has revealed – and one tier will be served to guests on Wednesday.
